ART I HONORS
Class Description:

An honors first level art course at GHS, or "ART 1 HONORS" class, is designed to give students a basic understanding and appreciation for art elements, principals and practices, emphasizing basic skill-development, creative problem-solving, and an understanding of art criticism and analytical writing about art.
Students enrolled in Art 1 Honors are exposed to foundational concepts and techniques necessary to better appreciate visual art, participate in the creation of visual art, understand the purpose and function of visual art, and to seek further education or training in the visual arts.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
EFFORT
Students will be required to participate in class discussions and use their class time wisely.
PREP-WORK / SKETCHBOOKS
You will be required to practice and prepare for final projects
RESPONSE
You will be required to write about your work or the work of others
FINAL PROJECTS
Your final projects will be graded based on rubrics which will be passed out before hand so you know what is required for each project

CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
Each student in a fine arts class is required to attend one GHS or other arts event in the Memphis Area each semester and write a response to their experience.
